DIY COCONUT OIL COLD CURE

A cold is a kind of infection that can be caused by different types of viruses. Some of the common symptoms of a cold are headache, runny nose, cough, high fever, itchy eyes, sore throat, body aches and so on. There are lots and lots of cold remedies out there, including both OTC medicines and home solutions.

Home remedies are always recommended for cold and here are remedies for cold using coconut oil.  One of the easiest ways to ingest coconut oil is by cooking and baking.  Simply replace butter or oil with coconut oil in a 1:1 ratio in your favorite recipes.

COUGH SYRUP

Things you need-

  • 2 tablespoons unrefined coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon raw honey
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon ginger powder
  • ½ teaspoon pepper powder

Method-

Mix all the ingredients together in a small saucepan and heat over low until coconut oil is melted except honey. Add honey after you put off the flame. Store in refrigerator for up to a month. Gently warm the syrup up before using.

CHEST RUB

Things you need-

  • ½ cup coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoons of beeswax
  • 10 drops clove oil
  • 20 drops peppermint oil
  • 20 drops eucalyptus oil

Method-

Melt beeswax in coconut oil on double boiler. Put off the flame and let the mixture cool down a bit (do not let it harden yet). Add clove oil, peppermint oil and eucalyptus oil to it. Stir gently and let it cool to harden. You are done! Use it to apply on your chest, neck and back for relief from cold and cough.

ALMOND+COCONUT OIL

Things you need-

  • 5 almonds
  • Water as needed
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil

Method-

Soak five to six almonds in water for 8 to 10 hours. Make a smooth paste out of the soaked almonds and add one teaspoon of coconut oil. Eat it three to four times a day until your symptoms go away. Almonds combined with coconut oil have nutritional properties that play a proactive role in healing cough symptoms.

GINGER COCONUT MORNING ROUTINE

Things you need-

  • Coconut oil
  • Dry ginger powder
  • Jaggery
  • Honey for taste

Method-

Mix equal amounts of dry ginger powder, coconut oil and jaggery (gur), a natural sweetener (honey). Consume this mixture daily in the morning on an empty stomach.
