Sweaty underarms are the most common beauty problem that many women face. Occasional, mild body odour is normal, but excessive or unpleasant body odour can be a source of great discomfort for others and very embarrassing for you. Causes of offensive body odour include poor hygiene, nutrient deficiencies, gastrointestinal problems like chronic constipation, and underlying medical problems, such as genetic metabolic disorders, liver disease, or diabetes.
Clean and fresh armpits is what everyone desire and it is not at all difficult to maintain it! Here are some tips and remedies:
LEMON JUICE
Cut one fresh lemon into two halves. Rub one half of the lemon on your underarms. Make sure the juice gets onto your skin. Allow it to dry on its own, and then take your shower. Follow this remedy once daily until the odour is gone completely. If you have sensitive skin, you can dilute the juice from half a lemon in one-half cup of water and apply it to your underarms using a cotton ball.
BAKING SODA
Mix equal amounts of baking soda and cornstarch. Apply it directly onto your dry underarms to prevent sweating as well as bad odour. Use this remedy when you need protection for several hours. Alternatively, you may try mixing one tablespoon each of baking soda and lemon juice. Apply it to your underarms and other body parts where you sweat excessively. Leave it on for a couple of minutes and wash it off with water; do not scrub.
APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
Apple cider vinegar is one of the best replacements for deodorant. The anti-bacterial properties fight off against the bacterial growth. Pour some apple cider vinegar in a bowl. Dip a cotton ball in it and wipe your underarms. This will reduce the pH of the skin, thereby eradicate the armpit odour.
CURD AND TURMERIC MASK
Mix curd with besan or gram flour, a pinch of turmeric powder and apply it on that area. Curd has natural bleaching properties and will help to lighten the skin tone. Turmeric is anti-bacterial that keeps armpits fresh. Do not use too much turmeric powder at they will leave an ugly yellow stain on the skin.
POTATO
At first thinly slice a potato and then gently rub a thin slice of potato on the underarms. Or, you can grate five potatoes to extract the juice. Then gently apply the potato juice on the affected area. Leave it for 20-25 minutes and thereafter wash it off with warm water. Use either of these two remedies once daily for better and faster results.
CUCUMBER
Cucumber is an outstanding source of Vitamin C, molybdenum, Vitamin K, pantothenic acid, potassium, copper, manganese, magnesium, phosphorous, Vitamin B1 and biotin. At first gently rub a thin cucumber slice on the underarms. Or, you can grate a cucumber to extract the juice and then gently apply the cucumber juice under the arms. Do this twice daily until you are completely satisfied with the results.
