Rosemary is an herb that may be seen growing in many gardens. It’s typically recognized by its little nettle-looking leaves. It’s a bushy plant and flourishes in soil with moderate exposure to sun. Rosemary oil is one of the most popular essential oils for its wide array of health benefits. It has become increasingly important and popular over the years as more of its various health benefits have become understood, including its ability to stimulate hair growth, boost mental activity, relieve respiratory problems and reduce pain. Here is how to make rosemary infused oil along with the benefits:

Cut enough fresh rosemary to fill your Mason jar. Wash the rosemary in water, and allow to completely dry. Pack the clean Mason jar with the clean rosemary. Fill the jar with olive oil, until the rosemary is completely covered. Secure the lid on the jar. Place the jar in a sunny window for about a month. Strain the infused oil into a clean jar. Throw away the pieces of rosemary plant that have been separated from the oil during the straining.

MEMORY BOOSTER

Studies have found that rosemary has a diterpene known as carnosic acid, which has neuroprotective properties that scientists think might protect against Alzheimer disease. This also includes the ordinary memory loss that occurs when one ages. Remarkably, even the scent of rosemary can serve to enhance memory.

Tip: Breathe in the aroma of rosemary oil by adding a 2 or 3 drops to your handkerchief or a room diffuser.

HEADACHE RELIEF

Rosemary contains analgesic as well as anti-inflammatory properties. So, it can help treat headaches. It can also help reduce the pain and severity of migraines.

Tip: Simply massage your forehead and temples with a few drops of rosemary oil mixed in 1 tablespoon of carrier oil.

CLEAR SKIN

With its powerful disinfectant and antibiotic properties, the herb can help to treat acne and oily skin conditions. When massaged into the face, rosemary oil can help lightens dark spots and blemishes on the skin resulting in an improved skin complexion.

ANTI INFLAMMATORY

Rosemary oil helps relieve arthritis pain, sciatic nerve pain, gout pain, back pain and stiff neck. Due to its antispasmodic properties, this herb also helps reduce menstrual pains.

Tip: Warm 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a microwave for a few seconds. Mix 2 to 3 drops of rosemary oil in it. Massage the affected area with this oil for 5 minutes. Repeat 2 to 3 times daily until you get relief.

HEALTHY HAIR

Regular use of rosemary oil for hair helps to stimulate follicles, making hair grow longer and stronger. It is also believed that rosemary oil slows down premature hair loss, dandruff and greying of the hair. Therefore, it is an excellent tonic for bald people or those who are beginning to show signs on male pattern baldness.

Tip: Add a few drops of rosemary essential oil to warm olive or coconut oil and massage your scalp with it 2 or 3 times a week.
