Nothing seems more annoying than coming home and witnessing your makeup all gone or smudged! Making the makeup last all day is what girls often struggle for. Touching up can always be a good option but that certainly does not mean making your previous makeup last, it simply means layering over your makeup. Here are some tricks to make your makeup last all day:
POLISH SKIN
Exfoliation is key to prepping your skin for makeup application – the smoother the surface, the more even it can be applied and therefore the longer it lasts. Twice a week polish away dead surface cells with a good exfoliator. Use a homemade scrub to smooth pores and tighten skin.
SMOOTH PORES
Primers are used to smoothen out your skin and make your makeup last all day. We always make a mistake of buying any primer not knowing if it would suit you. Primers are not all one size fits all! You need to use a hydrating primer for dry skin and mattifying primer for oily skin. If you use a mattifying primer over dry skin, it will make your makeup look chalky and peeling-kind off. If you use a moisturizing primer for oily skin, it will certainly make your skin greasy and hence the makeup won’t last long.
WET YOUR EYE SHADOWS
Eye shadows usually feather away as they are made up of really fine powders. To stop the creasing r flaking off, you can simply wet the eye shadow! Eye shadows when applied wet says in place as all the powder granules stick to one another and also on the eye lid. You may either directly spray a face mist on the pallete or on the eye lid after you have applied the eye shadow.
ALWAYS BLOT
If you have oily skin, it is always the best thing to carry blotting papers with you. How much ever you try and use matte products, oiliness can always cut down the life span of the makeup you are wearing even if it doesn’t get shiny or greasy or even if it doesn’t show up due to matte products. It is always better to blot your face after 2 hours to make sure your makeup stays in place.
GET THE RIGHT FOUNDATION
Whether your makeup would last or not totally depends on what kind of foundation you wear. If you have oily ski and use a foundation that oxidises or makes your skin oily, it certainly cannot make your makeup last. If you have dry skin and use matte foundation, your makeup will cake-off and also form dry patches, this certainly won’t make your makeup last. Always use a moisturizing or dewy-finish foundation on dry skin and matte foundation on oily skin.
LIP LINER
Instead of simply outlining your lips with your lip liner like you normally would, color up the entire lip with the pencil before you glide on your lip colour.
CHOOSE THE RIGHT EYE LINER
Eyeliners come in various types and formulations. If your eyelids seem to get oily, always use a smudge-proof and waterproof gel or pencil liner. If you have dry eyelids, you can use almost any eyeliner of your choice. Set your eyeliner in place by using a similar colored eyeshadow. The powder helps to set any oils that they eyeliner may contain.
USE A MAKEUP SETTING SPRAY
It is always good to use a makeup setting spray, and I always do. There are 2 kinds of makeup setting sprays- hydrating and matte finish ones. I have a matte finish one from NYX and it works great. But why would anybody use a makeup setting spray? Well, these sprays are essential to create a bond between makeup particles which keeps them in place.
