Winters have finally arrived and one thing I love about winters is “Ginger tea”. As soon as the weather gets chilly, I catch a cold and that is when ginger tea comes as a savior. It keeps cough and cold away. Not only this, ginger tea has many other health benefits too and we should all drink at least one cup daily. Today I will tell you how you can use ginger in beauty treatments. Yes, it can also beautify your skin.
The exotic root is rich in age-fighting antioxidants, plus it boosts blood flow to the scalp and skin, which smooths out the appearance of cellulite, helps hair growth and evens skin tone.
Ginger Lip and Body Scrub:
Benefits: Brown sugar has great exfoliating and nourishing properties while olive oil moisturizes skin and keeps it soft. Ginger has anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties that keeps skin clear, plump and free of any infections.
Directions- You can make a warming body scrub by combining ½ cup of brown sugar with ¼ cup of olive oil and one tablespoon of freshly grated ginger. Mix together and store it in an air tight container.
Benefits: Ginger increases skin radiance and applying it topically can make your skin glow. Rise water is a well-known skin beautifier that adds a rosy glow to your skin. Honey is a natural humectant that keeps skin hydrated. Honey also has natural bleaching properties that brightens complexion.
Directions: You can make your own ginger face mask with simple ingredients. Take a piece of ginger; grate it so that you can get its paste. Squeeze the ginger paste to get ginger juice. Mix one tbsp. of ginger juice with 2 tbsp. of rosewater, and half tbsp. of honey. Mix it well and then using cotton pads, apply it evenly on your face and neck. Let it stay for 20 minutes and then rinse it off using warm water. With regular usage you skin will glow and dark spots will also be reduced.
Remove Suntan: Ginger when combined with lemon juice acts as a very good tan removing scrub. Take half cup sugar, half cup olive oil, 2 tbsp. of ginger juice and 2 tbsp. of lemon juice. Mix everything well and using wet fingers scrub it on your arms, feet and even on face with light hands. Use this scrub 2 times a week to get rid of tanned skin and to lighten your complexion.
Hyper pigmentation: If your skin has developed white scars then it is a sign of hyper pigmentation. Don’t fret you can treat it without spending dermatologist fee by using ginger. Take fresh ginger juice, mix it with honey and apply it directly on your skin. Don’t rub it too hard. Allow it to sit for as long as you want 30-45 minutes and then rinse off.
Split ends: Ginger oil mixed with shampoo helps one get rid of split ends and also acts as a natural moisturizer for dry hair.
Detox Ginger Bath: Use about 1/3 cup of epsom salt and add 2 teaspoon of fresh ginger powder. Fill up your bathtub with enough warm water and stir in your ingredients. Relax for at least 20 minutes and let the ginger work its detox. If you have sensitive skin or are allergy-prone, test ginger on your skin for irritation before dipping into the bath.
Grow hair faster growth:
Benefits: Ginger stimulates blood circulation of your scalp which eventually stimulates hair growth and also improves hair texture. Jojoba oil nourishes follicles, adds shine to hair and strengthens hair reducing hair fall.
Directions: Take 2 tbsp. of ginger juice and mix it with 5-6 tbsp. of jojoba oil. Massage this oil on your scalp in circular motion for at least 20 minutes. Let it stay overnight if you can or shampoo after 30 minutes. Repeat it 2-3 times a month and with regular usage the hair texture will be improved.
