When summer is at its peak, it’s time when many of us fall victim of sunburn. Sunburn is nothing but a severe inflammatory skin condition which is caused due to overexposure to the ultraviolet radiation of the sun. We are all familiar with sunburn on arms, legs, back and other parts of the skin and most of us take care to use sun block on the exposed parts of the body to prevent a sun burn.
Lips are often neglected and you can have sunburn symptoms there as well, without even knowing it! Sun burnt lips become sensitive and tender to touch, blistered and swollen. Below are some ways to treat sun burn on the lips:
ALOE VERA
Aloe vera is known to soothe a sun burn and calm down the inflammation and redness. Also, it treats blisters. Squeeze out fresh aloe vera gel and apply on your lips before bedtime.

OATMEAL
Oatmeal is packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties; this is why oatmeal is one of the most effective home remedies for sunburns.
Mix up oatmeal flour with little milk or water in a bowl and apply a thick layer onto your lips as a lip mask. Wash it off after 15 minutes.
GREEN TEA
Green tea has anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that help calm down sunburn symptoms.
Prepare strong green tea and pour it into ice cube tray. Use this to rub on your lips several times a day to soothe a sun burn.
PEPPERMINT ESSENTIAL OIL
Peppermint essential oil has cooling and anti-inflammatory properties that instantly calms down sunburn.
Dilute peppermint essential oil using ACV or witch hazel and apply it topically on your lips before bedtime.
