Stretch marks are commonly seen on the tummy during and after pregnancy! While you are happy over the new bundle of joy, it can often be spoilt by thinking over how to treat stretch masks! Stretch marks are caused by your skin stretching as you put on weight during pregnancy. Pregnancy hormones also soften the fibres in your skin, making stretch marks more likely. Most pregnant women get stretch marks and the below remedies can help you prevent and treat it:
POTATO JUICE – Potato juice contains vitamins and minerals that foster growth and restoration of skin cells.
How to use: Cut a medium-sized potato into thick slices. Take one of the potato pieces and rub it gently on the stretch marks for a few minutes. Make sure the starch from the potato covers the affected area. Allow the potato juice to dry for some time and then wash it off with lukewarm water.
SHEA BUTTER OR COCOA BUTTER – Cocoa butter or Shea butter is considered to be a popular remedy for stretch marks.
Apply Shea butter or cocoa butter directly on the stretch marks to reduce their appearance. Butter application on the affected area improves the elasticity of the skin and prevents dryness. Wash off after application and repeat the procedure regularly.
OLIVE OIL – This is popular remedy for pregnancy stretch marks.
Take olive oil in your palms and massage it around your stomach and belly bottom regularly so that the lines start disappearing. Take bath immediately after applying oil on stretch marks. This is a time-taking process but gives you the result. You can also mix olive oil with water and vinegar and use it as a night cream. Application of olive oil exfoliates and moisturizes the skin.
CASTOR OIL – Castor oil is used in many salons to remove stretch marks and they charge an exorbitant amount.
How to use: You can indulge in castor massage at home by simply rubbing castor oil over the affected areas. Then wrap it with a plastic sheet and place a hot water bottle over it. The heat form the bottle allows the pores to open up and absorption of the oil takes place easily.
HONEY – Honey has antiseptic property that helps to treat pregnancy or normal stretch marks.
How to use: Take a piece of cloth and apply honey to it. Place the cloth on the stretch marks. Let it sit until it dries off. Wash it off with warm water. You can also use honey scrub as scrub the scars gently with a mixture of honey and salt. Add glycerine to it and apply the mixture on stretch marks. Let it dry for 5 minutes and then wash it off with water.
SUGAR – Sugar is the best natural home remedy to treat stretch marks.
How to use: Use the sugar to exfoliate your skin and get rid of stretch marks. Mix a tablespoon of raw sugar with some almond oil and few drops of lemon juice. Mix them well and apply it on stretch marks and other skin areas. Rub the mixture on the skin for a few minutes daily before taking a shower. Repeat it for a month and you can notice the result that your stretch marks become lighter.
LEMON JUICE – Lemon juice helps to get rid of stretch marks on your skin. Lemon juice is naturally acidic that helps to heal and reduce stretch marks, scars, and acne.
Remedy 1: Take a fresh lemon and cut into half. Rub a fresh lemon juice gently on stretch marks in circular motions. Let it soak into your skin for that leave it 10 minutes. Then, rinse it off with warm water.
Remedy 2: Alternatively, use the mixture with equal amounts of cucumber juice and lemon juice. Apply this mixture on your stretch marks. It helps to get out of stretch marks.
