Oil pulling is a traditional Ayurveda technique that is basically to rinse your mouth with oil much like you would with a mouthwash. Oil pulling has lots of health benefits as it detoxifies and cleanses your body. It helps to make your teeth whiter, prevents cavities, breath becomes fresher, clears skin, reduces pain, allergies and much more. Did you also know that using coconut mouthwash after brushing your teeth to can help prevent cavities, bad breath etc. ? Below is a recipe for coconut mouth wash:
Coconut oil- Coconut oil has anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties. It detoxes the mouth, makes teeth and gums stronger and also prevents tooth decay.
Sea salt- Sea salt has mouth detoxing properties. It also has anti-microbial property.
Peppermint oil- Peppermint oil is anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial. It also gives your mouth a minty freshness.
Things you need-
- 1 cup lukewarm water
- 2 teaspoons coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon sea salt
- Few drops peppermint oil
In a jar, add 1 cup lukewarm water and melted coconut oil.
Add in sea salt and peppermint oil. Stir until sea salt is dissolved.
Use this as a mouthwash twice a day.
For extra benefits, you can also add in a tablespoon of charcoal powder.
