There is nothing better than giving your hair a break from chemical laden products! If you are not using chemical products then what are you supposed to use? Well, natural products of course that you can easily make at home. Natural hair care starts from hair washing- and here I am with some effective coconut oil shampoo recipes:
COCONUT OIL AND BAKING SODA SHAMPOO
This shampoo does not foam (rather none of the natural shampoos foam until and unless you add some foaming agent to it) yet cleanses and moisturizes the scalp very effectively. You need just 3 ingredients- ½ teaspoon coconut oil (melt if solid), 3 tablespoons baking soda and 4-5 cups water. To make this shampoo, simply add baking soda to warm water and stir. Let the baking soda dissolve completely and form a clear liquid. You can now add coconut oil to the mixture and shake it thoroughly (in a bottle). To use, pour it on your hair and scalp and massage for 5 minutes; wash off using cold water.
COCONUT OIL AND COCONUT MILK SHAMPOO
You need ½ cup coconut milk, 1 teaspoon coconut milk (melt if solid), ¼ cup liquid castile soap and 20 drops of any essential oil of your choice. Combine all ingredients in an old shampoo bottle or jar of some kind (pump soap dispensers and even foaming dispensers work well for this. If you use a foaming dispenser, add 1/4 cup of distilled water) Shake well to mix. Keep in shower for up to a month. Shake before each use. Use about a teaspoon every time you shampoo.
COCONUT OIL AND ALOE VERA SHAMPOO
To make this shampoo, you need 1 ½ cups of coconut oil, 1 ¾ cups of Aloe Vera gel and 20 drops of any fragrant essential oil. Mix the oils and gel in a bowl with a wire whisk. Pour this into a jar and refrigerate. The refrigerated mixture is thick and has a pudding-like consistency. Massaging your scalp with it removes the dirt and also nourishes the hair. You can wash the shampoo away with water. If you feel your hair is greasy, wash with a cup of apple cider vinegar.
COCONUT OIL AND SALT OIL SHAMPOO
To make this shampoo you need ¾ cup water, ½ cup mild baby shampoo, 2 teaspoon table salt, 2 tablespoon coconut oil and 2 teaspoon jojoba oil. Pour the water in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for half a minute. Pour in the baby shampoo and blend gently without making too many suds. Add the salt and mix well. Finally, add the oils and stir until well incorporated. Store this in a squeeze bottle.
COCONUT OIL AND HIBISCUS SHAMPOO
To make this herbal coconut shampoo, you need reetha water, shikakai water, aamla water, ½ teaspoom coconut oil and 2 tablespoons hibiscus powder. To make reetha, Shikakai and aamla water simply boil the fruits or powder in water and strain. You may do it individually or combine the fruits/powders and then boil. Add hibiscus powder and then coconut oil to the hot solution and let it cool down. Use this as your regular shampoo.
