DIY homemade Natural, nontoxic insect, bug and mosquito repellent
Essential oil Mosquito Repellent
Ingredients: Anyone essential oil (Lavender, geranium, citronella, lemongrass, lemon eucalyptus, rosemary and peppermint), natural witch hazel, distilled water and spray bottle Procedure: Take a sanitized spray bottle and fill it with one cup of distilled water. Now add a half cup of witch hazel, 20 drops of essential oil into the bottle. Shake everything well and then spray it on. This is a very simple and effective mosquito repellent spray.
2 cups of filtered water or witch hazel
10 drops eucalyptus essential oil
5 drops of lemon essential oil
1 cup of distilled water
1/2 cup of witch hazel
10 drops peppermint essential oil
5 drops of lemon essential oil
Procedure: Take a spray bottle and fill it with one cup of distilled water. Now add a half cup of witch hazel and then add in the essential oil into the bottle. Shake everything well and then spray it on the clothing or around you.
Use lavender, citronella, cinnamon, citrus, peppermint or tea tree oil. Only few drops of any of these useful herbs mixed with water will be effective for killing spiders.
5-10 Drops of any of the above essential oils or a combination of the oils
¼ tsp Dish Soap
12oz of Distilled Water
Spiders dislike the taste of tree tea oil. To make this effective repellent spray: add dish soap into warm water; add 5-10 drops of tree tea oil.
Garlic Insect Repellent
Ingredients: Minced garlic, mineral oil and lemon juice.
Procedure: Take minced garlic and add few drops of mineral oil. Apply it on the affected area and allow it to sit for 24 hours. Next morning, wash the area. Now take 1/2 cup distilled water 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar and 40 drops of lemongrass essential oil. Pour this mixture in a spray bottle and spray it on.
Vanilla Insect Repellent
Ingredients: Vanilla extracts Procedure: Applying vanilla extracts also helps in keeping bugs away and moisturizes. Just apply vanilla extract on your pulse points. This recipe will also make you smell fresh and good.
All natural Coconut Oil Insect Repellent
neem oil or essential oil (lemongrass, peppermint, eucalyptus, tea tree or lavender).
Procedure: Mix few drops of neem oil with coconut oil and keep this mixture in a small jar. You can use one essential or you can use two of them. Apply this mixture on your wrist, arms, neck, and knees to keep bugs away. This is very effective and simple all natural remedy.
Lavender Insect Repellent Ingredients: Fresh lavender flower Procedure: Just rub the lavender flower or basil leaves behind your ears, wrist, and knee, around the ankle and also on the neck. This is the simplest and easiest way to keeps bugs and mosquitoes away. Not only will it keep bugs away but it will make you smell fresh and good.
Basil Bug Repellent
10 drops basil essential oil
1⁄2 cup boiling water
1⁄2 cup vodka
Pour water, basil oil into a spray bottle, and add in the vodka. Shake well and spray around.
Basil emits its aroma without crushing the leaves, so you can grow basil in pots and put them in your backyard to control mosquitoes. To keep the mosquitoes away from your body, rub a handful of crushed basil leaves on your skin. Any variety of basil can repel mosquitoes but it is advisable to use lemon basil cinnamon basil and Peruvian basil since they have the strongest fragrances.
