Coconut oil is the newest green obsession. It’s not only good for your hair and body but it has many other useful benefits around the house. Yes, coconut oil is not only healthy but it’s extremely versatile. It can serve many purposes and come handy in many unexpected times. So, here is a list of things in which you can use coconut oil.
Polish Furniture:
Coconut oil is used as natural furniture polisher because it adds shine and prolongs the life of the furniture. This is the easiest and quickest way to get rid of dry woods instantly. You just need two ingredients which are easily available in your kitchen. Moreover this technique is safe to use because conventional polish contains many chemicals which can be harmful. Take half cup of coconut oil and mix it with half cup of lemon juice. Mix well and apply this using a soft polishing cloth. Rub the furniture briskly and polish your furniture’s instantly.
Spot or Stain Remover:
Coconut oil can remove stubborn stains and spot from carpets and other hard materials. Rub small amount of coconut oil on the spot and allow it to sit for 5 minutes. The oil will loosen the stain and it will be removed.
Squeaky Doors:
You can fix squeaky doors naturally. Apply coconut oil to the hinge of the door and allow it to sit for 2-3 hours. Then check whether the sound is gone by opening and closing the door. If there is still sound you more oil and after few times the squeak will go completely. Coconut oil is solid oil so it will not make the area messy and you can clean the excess oil after the squeak is gone.
Remove rust:
Before you toss those rusty knives or scissors, try this: slick coconut oil on the blades and let it sit for an hour then rinse with warm water.
Condition wooden flatware:
Keep your wooden spoons, cutting boards, or any other wooden utensils in best shape by conditioning them with coconut oil. Apply a generous amount of coconut oil and letting it seep into the furniture.
Gum remover:
Coconut oil works just as effectively in removing sticky chewing gum. Apply oil to gum and let sit for a couple of minutes before removing it.
Leather Polish:
To make leather stuff shine like it’s new and to make it look conditioned you can simply use coconut oil which is available easily. First using a wet cloth wipe the leather so that dirt gets removed. Then take small amount of oil and put it on the leather surface. Using a clean cloth spread it across and you will notice instant shine. This is the best and cheapest way to moisturize leather and to make it shine.
Shower scum:
Clean and prevent shower scum by rubbing coconut oil. Use a small dollop of coconut oil on a damp cloth and rub away soap scum.
Floor cleaner:
Lift scuff marks from floors using a tiny bit of coconut oil and a cloth. Wipe up the oil completely to prevent slipping.
Shoe Shiner:
Rub some coconut oil on your leather boots or patent heels to give them shine and make them look fresh and new again.
Remove Sticky labels or tags:
Removing labels can be a messy task and the labels also leave sticky residue behind which make the work even worse. You can remove the labels easily using coconut oil. Mix equal parts coconut oil and baking soda into a paste, simply cover the label and allow it to soak for 1-2 minute. Scrub off using an old toothbrush or scrubber. The label will come out easily now without leaving any residue behind. Wipe off the oil using a wet cloth.
Bronze Polish:
Rub a little into bronze items to clean and deepen the color. All you have to do is rub a little oil into a cotton towel and then wipe it down.
