Oily skin is something most of the girls deal with including me. Even if you have combination skin, it tends to be a lot oilier in hot and humid summers. Proper care and measures to reduce or control oiliness is important to keep your pores clog-free and also to keep your skin less oily. Oily skin leads to acne which ultimately results into scars. So what exactly do women with oily skin do? Here are some beauty secrets of women (and me too) with oily skin:
ROSE WATER- A HOLY GRAIL
Rose water is a holy grail of women with oily skin. It not only helps control oil but also adds a natural rosy glow to your skin. Use it as a toner, as a mist throughout the day, in your DIY face masks, or simply add few drops in your night or day cream. Rose water helps control oil throughout the day and also keeps you refreshed with few sprits in between. More: How to make rose water at home >>
REGULAR CLEANSING
It is essential to always keep your skin free from dirt and grime, especially oily skin that is prone to attract all kinds or dirt from the surrounding. A gel based cleanser always works well for oily skin. Always choose a cleanser that won’t dry out your skin, whatever maybe the skin type. More: Basics of good skincare routine >>
REGULAR EXFOLIATING
With time, our skin builds up on dead skin cells and under them resides the microbes and dirt causing skin to breakout and look dull, this happens especially with oily skin. Exfoliation removes the dead skin cells and dirt revealing new skin. Besides, it also cleanses the pores and facilitates blood circulation.
USING A GOOD GEL BASED MOISTURIZER
You have oily skin does not mean you need no moisturizer. Skin needs moisturization and hydration even if it’s oily. It is good to use a matte moisturizer or a gel based moisturizer that can hold in moisture and keep your skin hydrated. Moisturizer adds in hydration and moisture to your skin maintaining its elasticity and softness.
ORANGE FOR OILY SKIN
Orange or any other citrus fruit works wonders for oily skin. It keeps skin clear and helps reduce oil. Take 3-4 tbsp. of orange juice in a bowl and mix 1 tbsp. of sugar into it. You can also add one tbsp. of honey into it. Now scrub your face and neck using this homemade scrub gently for about 4-5 minutes. This scrub will not only exfoliate dead skin from your face but it will also remove excess oil and will make your face glow when used every week. More: DIY face scrubs for oily skin >>
REGULAR STEAMING
Before steaming, make sure you cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser to remove any oil, dirt and grime. Once you’ve cleansed your face well, use a steam to open up your pores and get rid of toxins. It is extremely important to use a steam after you’ve cleansed your face and before applying a scrub to help your skin clear out well. More: Steam for oily skin >>
