Air drying hair is very important if you want healthy hair. In this age when we do not find time to even eat our food, air drying hair and then doing the hair may just look impossible. Therefore most of us just pick up a blow drier and blow the hair dry but this will eventually cause a lot of damage to our hair. Hair dryers blow hot air that takes away all the moisture from hair making it dull and rough with time. Air drying basically lets the natural texture of the hair to bloom. Air drying retains the moisture and keeps hair soft and silky. Here are some easy ways to quickly air dry your hair so you don’t have to rely on your hair dryer:
BLOTTING
Blotting your hair gently can actually help you air dry your hair naturally. You might feel this would take longer, but with the right technique you can be quicker. You need to bend down and let your hair loose upside down. Grab a thick tshirt and wrap it on your head with the hair ends twisting into the tshirt. Hold it that way for 1 minute or two to soak in all the remaining water. Now, remove the towel and take another dry thick towel. Gently blot hair in sections (take thicker sections as the towel is thick and you would be quicker too) from the roots to tip. After you are done blotting, let your hair dry naturally and you will be amazed how fast you achieve dry hair.
FAN
This method is something I always use to dry my hair quickly. The fan blows air in and around your hair which evaporates all the water in no time leaving your hair dried and bouncy. Just put the fan on full speed, grab a wide toothed comb and stand in front of the fan (table fan). Gently comb sections of hair as the air blows through it from root to tip direction. Cover all sections likewise and you will have perfectly set dry hair which would actually look like you have blow-dried your hair.
SLEEP ON IT
If you shower at night and plan on sleeping on damp hair then try braiding your hair loosely before bed. These tactics will also help keep hair from getting knotted. In the morning, simply release hair and run your fingers through to blend the sections together. DIY 3 OVERNIGHT HAIR MASKS FOR BEAUTIFUL HAIR
SHAKING
This is the weirdest trick I used when I had shoulder length hair but it works great and actually dries your hair even faster than the fan method. You don’t need a comb or anything, all you need is some energy to shake your head like crazy from left to right like you are saying ‘NO’. This way, every strand of your hair is subjected to blowing/resisting air leading to quicker drying. At the end, comb your hair gently with a wide toothed comb to prevent/remove tangling. Increase the airflow through the hair: Run your fingers through your hair as well as the scalp. Toss your hair upside down gently and do the same. This will make sure there is ample of airflow through the hair and this will dry the hair faster.
DRY SHAMPOO
Dry shampoo is actually meant to soak up all the grease and oil from your hair and make it dry and bouncy. You can use it to dry your wet hair too, but make sure your hair is not dripping wet- it should be towel dried. Part your hair in sections and spray the dry shampoo like you usually do. You are done!
TALCUM POWDER TRICK
Talcum powder works just like a dry shampoo- soak in all the remaining water and dry the hair. You need a thick towel and a good quality talcum powder (or any organic face powder would do). Sprinkle some powder on the towel and use the powdered area to blot your hair gently in sections. Once you are done, shake your hair and comb.
TWISTY BUN
If you like to air dry your hair but also add in some wavy texture, a twisty bun works well. First you need to blot your hair but make sure it is not completely dried. Roll your hair high up and clip it. You may go to your office or wherever you want and remove the clip after an hour to reveal perfectly dried wavy hair. Other tips:
- Comb your hair: – There are some rules you need to follow while you comb your hair. Comb your hair with a wide- toothed brush, this will be gentle on the hair and will detangle the hair easily-. Apply a serum to your hair and that will control the frizz totally. Squeeze the water off the hair gently. Encouraging the hair to dry faster is also a good option provided it is gentle. Gather all the hair together into a pony tail very gently. Gently squeeze your hair starting from the back of your head to the tip of the hair. Squeeze out the water completely. This will speed up the drying process of the hair.
- Apply serum:-If your hair is super frizzy then you must apply your favourite serum or use a homemade DIY hairspray for soft shiny hair, at this point as it gets into the hair roots properly and gives better results.
Finally, make sure while carry out these steps; you are outside where you get enough wind or in a room with fan. By following these steps you will master air drying your hair.
