Cleaning anything from home to your kitchen essentials needs proper finishing which comes with only little knowledge on how to do it correctly! Common blunders can muck up even the best efforts, and as we ladies are not a really big fan of cleaning (at least in my case) we should make sure we do it properly in the first place itself so there is no need to repeat everything!
Here are some of the common cleaning mistakes you might be making which you need to know in order to get it correct in the first place:
SPRAYING CLEANER ON THE SURFACES DIRECTLY
Directly spraying the cleaner on surfaces is not a good habit since it does not get cleaned properly, instead it leaves a lot of residue behind. Instead, spray the formula onto a microfiber cloth and wipe-downs done this way require less solution, which cuts down on the residue buildup.
INCORRECTLY STACKING UTENSILS IN THE SINK
When utensils are stacked up on each other, they stick to each other and if turmeric is used in the food, it will stain most of the utensils and it will dry up that way. White coloured utensils gradually turn yellow. Always keep utensils separately in the sink so that when you wash your hands, the tap water flows down on the utensils and the dirt and leftovers do not stick to it.
USING THE TOILET BRUSH AND KEEPING IT BACK AS IT IS
How many of you wash your toilet brushes after using? I am sure not all do this. Using the toilet brush and putting directly back into the holder is just gross and dirty. The moisture left on the brush will just grow bacteria if it is not washed after using. Always wash the brush using detergent and sanitizer liquids.
SCRUBBING CARPET STAINS
When you spill anything on the carpet, scrubbing it is a wrong practice. You can root the stain even further into the fibre this way. Though you may see results, the stain can resurface over time. Whenever you spill any liquid, immediately blot the stain with a cloth. Later, saturate the surface with chilled water and place a dry cloth over it and walk on it. Repeat this process until so more colour is picked up by the cloth.
USING THE PRETTY COLOURFUL FEATHER DUSTER
The rainbow coloured feather duster is commonly used by everyone to remove dust from surfaces. The duster only spreads dust from one surface to another and does not exactly clean it. Instead, a cotton cloth or microfiber cloth can be used which will hold on to the dust particles and dust mites as well.
NOT CLEANING YOUR COFFEE MAKER
Have you ever cleaned your coffee maker? If not cleaned from time to time, it can cause buildup of product and become a breeding ground for bacteria. Run two parts water to one part distilled white vinegar through the brew cycle without a filter about once a month.
