WAYS TO USE GINGER AS MEDICINE

Ginger is one of the oldest and most popular natural remedies. It is also very easy to find in most places and extremely versatile. It is the most widely used and available herbal remedy on the planet, with billions of people using it every day as both food and medicine. Here are the most popular and easy ways to consume ginger as medicine:

WAYS TO USE GINGER AS MEDICINE

GINGER TEA

Ginger tea is the best way to consume ginger. That way it gets easily absorbed by the body. To make ginger tea, simmer 3/4 teaspoon (0.5 to 1.0 grams) of chopped ginger in 1 cup of hot water for five minutes in a closed teapot. You may also add honey to it for taste. Remedies using ginger tea >>

GINGER RICE

Cook basmati rice. When you take the lid off the pan, quickly stir in finely chopped garlic, ginger, green chillies and fresh cilantro leaves- the burst of flavour and fragrance will drive your senses crazy with desire! Not only will it improve the taste of rice but will also improve your immunity and prevent infections.

GINGER CANDY

To make herbal candy you will need 1 cup of prepared ginger tea (you may increase the amount of ginger if a stronger flavour is desired) and 1 1/2 cups of sugar. Stir together well in a deep, heavy saucepan. Boil over medium to medium-high heat, without further stirring, until mixture reaches 300 degrees F.

GINGER OIL

To make the oil, place several pinches or spoonfuls of ground ginger in a small jar. Pour olive oil or sweet almond oil over the spice. Shake well and allow infusing for several weeks in a cool, dark place. Shake daily so that the powder doesn’t settle in one big clump in the bottom of the jar. After about four to six weeks, strain out the oil and store in a sterilized jar with a tight cap. This will keep about a year if stored properly. You may use this oil topically for several conditions like inflammation, aches, pains etc.

INDIGESTION AND NAUSEA

Ginger has been used for thousands of years as an effective digestive aid and natural remedy for nausea. Eating whole ginger, drinking fresh ginger juice and inhaling diffused ginger essential oil are all highly effective ways to curb stomach disorders.

SOUPS

Fresh ginger, grated or pureed, brings wonderful zest to hot, creamy winter soups. If you have cough or cold or sore throat, add extra ginger powder, pureed ginger or ginger flakes to the soup. The taste of ginger should be prominent for it to be effective.

GINGER MILK

To make delicious ginger milk, you need 1 cup whole milk, 1 tablespoon white/brown sugar and 1 teaspoon ground ginger or ginger powder. Combine milk, sugar, and ground ginger in a saucepan; cook over medium heat until milk becomes foamy, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat; strain through a fine-mesh strainer into a mug. Consume warm.
