The best way to freshen up your hair and add volume without washing it is by using a dry shampoo.
Dry shampoo can work wonders giving your hair volume, absorbs oil making it look fresh all day long and also allowing you to skip washing your hair for days. Though, if you find a dry shampoo to be expensive or don’t have one then you can easily make a natural dry shampoo by using kitchen ingredients.
Dry Shampoo for light hair:
You will need:
- 1/4 cup arrowroot powder, rice flour or organic cornstarch
- 5 drops of essential oil of your choice
For a natural substitute to dry shampoo you can use rice flour, cornstarch, ground oatmeal or baking soda. Add in few drops of essential oil for an amazing fragrance store it in a salt shaker to use when needed.
Dry Shampoo for dark hair:
You will need:
- 1-2 tablespoons baking soda, cornstarch, rice flour or ground oatmeal
- 1/2 – 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- essential oil
Mix a tbsp of flour with 1/2 tbsp of coco powder and few drops of lavender oil. Section off your hair and use very little of the homemade dry shampoo at the roots mostly at the oily parts of the hair. Leave it on for few secs before you brush off to get rid of the excess flour and also to distribute it evenly.
Quick tips:
You can also use a makeup brush to apply the flour to your hair, dip the brush into the flour, tap off the excess and use it on the roots of your hair. To add a pleasant scent to your hair, add 2-4 drops of lavender oil to the flour. You can also make your hair smell good all day long by using a natural hair perfume spray.
