HOME REMEDIES FOR DRY STATIC HAIR

HOME REMEDIES FOR DRY STATIC HAIRAs climates have started becoming colder, we are starting to enjoy with hot tea and snacks in the evening. But with cold climates outside, our hair starts facing a lot of issues. Static hair is common in these cold climates. Static hair happens when hair is charged with electricity. This occurs when objects with two different charges rub together. While rubbing, the electrons from one are transferred to other, making them positive or negative charge. Dry hair is more prone to static electricity which is why we experience it more in colder climates. Here I will list down some home remedies for static hair.

Hot oil treatment:

Use coconut oil to give yourself a hot oil treatment frequently. This helps moisturizing the hair and reduces the static charge.

Rose water spray:

While you are on the go, if you feel static hair, mist your hair by spraying some fresh rose water which will give a quick moisture boost to hair.

Yoghurt and egg mask:

Whisk together an egg and some yoghurt. Apply all over hair as a hair mask. Leave on for 30 minutes. Wash off with shampoo. The AHA in yoghurt smooths hair follicles and vitamins in egg seal in moisture content.

Honey rinse:

Mix 2 teaspoons of honey in a mug of water. Use it as a last rinse after shampooing your hair. Honey is a natural humectant which retains moisture in your hair for a long time and prevent static charge.

Aloevera gel:

Apply some aloevera gel on your hair lengths. This helps to calm static hair and reduce frizziness.

Mayonnaise conditioner:

Just rub some mayonnaise on your hair lengths after shampooing. This will act as a deep conditioning and reduce static electricity.

Wooden comb:

Since plastic generates more static, go for a natural wooden comb. Also avoid using brushes and go with combs as they are more wide-toothed and reduce friction.

Other tips:

  • Avoid washing your hair with hot water as it makes hair very dry and more prone to static charge.
  • Dilute shampoo with water so that it is not too harsh and does not strip off all oils from hair.
  • Avoid using blow-dryers and other styling tools and let your hair air-dry naturally.
