Ingrown toe nails are a common problem! They range from mild pain to severe infections. If it is early in the course of the ingrown toenail, then home care may be successful in preventing the need for surgery. Here are some of the home remedies for treating ingrown toe nails:
To relieve the soreness, soak your foot in a basin of warm, not hot, water mixed with a tablespoon or two of Epsom salts. Soak your toe for five to ten minutes, once or twice a day.
No more curved toenails! When trimming your toenails, get in the habit of cutting them straight across. If the corners seem too sharp, it’s okay to file them down a bit.
Place cotton or dental floss under your toenail. After each soaking, put fresh bits of cotton or waxed dental floss under the ingrown edge. Continue doing it untill the nail grows out and can be trimmed. This will help the nail grow above the skin edge.
