I am sure I am not the only one who forgets her phone and later can’t find because I had kept the phone on silent! Let’s put the old traditional method of searching and searching aside, and look towards the new era of technology where you can easily find your phone even if it is on silent mode! Keep reading to know what those methods are:
USE ‘FIND MY iPHONE’: Go to iCloud.com on a desktop or laptop, sign in, and click on “Find My iPhone.” The website will show the location of where your phone is, in case you don’t remember where you actually left it. If you already know where your iPhone is, tap the dot on your iPhone and a box should appear with three options. Click the “Play Sound” button and, regardless of whether your iPhone is on silent or vibrate, a pinging sound will ring loudly. Ta-da!
USE ‘MARCO POLO’: If you’ve ever lost or misplaced your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch somewhere nearby but can’t quite remember where, the Marco Polo app will help you quickly find your device with just your voice. Just shout out loud MARCO! and your hidden device will ring back POLO! so that you can find it.
FOR ANDROID:
USE ‘RING MY DROID’: This android phone app helps you get your phone even if it is on silent mode! This app has an SMS triggered alarm feature, which gives full volume of alarm on your phone when a special key message is sent to the phone. After the app is installed on your phone, you can set an SMS phrase and save the settings. The day when you wish to locate your phone when it’s in silent mode, just grab a phone of one of your friends, spouse, or relative and send SMS to your phone with the phrase saved in the app.
USE ‘CLAP TO FIND’: Consider the worst case scenario – phone in flight mode. In this case, your clap (yes, you read that right) can help you out. After installing an app called ‘Clap to Find’ you’ll be able to make your phone ring using three consecutive claps. When you install the app, it will ask you to configure the sound of the clap and set the sensitivity. You can choose to ring, vibrate, and turn on the flashlight of the app using the settings.
MAKING A SILENT ANDROID PHONE RING: Google gives you an online device manager which comes to your rescue. Follow these simple steps-
- Head over to Google’s android device manager “www.google.com/android/devicemanager” in your desktop browser. Make sure to login with the same Google account that is associated with your android phone.
- You will now see a list of all devices which you have used with this account. Select your device and click on the “Ring” button.
- Your device will now start ringing. You can find the phone and press the power button to make it stop.
It might take some time for the phone to ring once you press the “Ring” button. So if you don’t hear it ringing immediately, don’t panic. Just wait for half a minute or more and it will start ringing if online.
THIS TRICK WORKS FOR BOTH iPHONE AND OTHER ANDROID SMART PHONES:
All you need is a set of speakers. Call your phone, then walk around with music blaring from the speakers. That annoying white noise you sometimes hear when you make a phone call works to your benefit here. If you can get close to where the phone is hiding, the speakers can pick up the interference. If you hear a crackling sound, you know you’re close. The closer you get, the louder it will sound.
Use these simple apps and techniques to search your phone the next time you misplace it!
