L.A. GIRL VELVET CONTOUR BRONZER STICK REVIEW

Bronzers play an important role in contouring. I had a highlighter and a blush, the only missing thing in my makeup bag was a bronzer, and the good news is that I finally got one. LA Girl has some amazing blushes, highlighters and bronzers in stick forms and I got the LA Girl Velvet contour Bronzer Stick in the shade Suede.

L.A. GIRL VELVET CONTOUR BRONZER STICK REVIEWMY TAKE ON L.A. GIRL VELVET CONTOUR BRONZER STICK- SUEDE

Packaging: The contour stick comes in a chubby and sturdy twist-up stick. The bottom of the stick needs to be twisted to take out the contour stick. The stick is blunt and easy to be used. The product is cylindrical and has transparent plastic cap which needs to be pressed in order to close. The cylindrical stick is brown in colour which depicts the product shade. I have never carried this in my handbag but I always keep it in my makeup bag and the cap has never come off.

Texture: The contour stick has a creamy texture. Since the texture is creamy, it glides effortlessly and smoothly.

L.A. GIRL VELVET CONTOUR BRONZER STICK REVIEWShade: Suede is the lightest shade off all. Single swipe gives a natural light brown colour which will make the contouring look natural; if you want darker colour you need to swipe multiple times. This shade goes well with fair to medium skin tones. Darker skin tones can go for other 2 dark shades in this range.

How I use and staying power: After setting my MAC Foundation with compact powder, I use the bronzer stick. I simply swipe twice under the cheekbones, on top of forehead and on the contouring sides of nose (on the left and right of the nose leaving the centre part). I use my powder brush to blend the bronzer. Since the texture of this contouring stick is creamy, I find it hard to blend with a brush so I finally use my fingertips for a good finish and to blend the bronzer properly. After using the bronzer, I use the blush and highlighter to complete the look.

L.A. GIRL VELVET CONTOUR BRONZER STICK REVIEWAfter few hours the bronzer fades away! Infact, since it has a creamy texture it also makes my cheeks and nose a bit greasy to touch. But that can be handled with a blotting tissue since the greasiness is not visible, only can be felt. I never feel this way when I am using just the mac foundation and blush, so I feel it’s the contour stick that is making my skin feel greasy. I don’t think I will be regularly using this; who would go to office with full contouring? I can use this on occasions.

PROS:

  • Inexpensive as compared to other branded bronzers in the market
  • Easy to use; like you just have to twist up, use, twist it back and close!
  • Travel friendly

CONS:

  • Might not suit very oily skin
  • Not long-lasting
  • Needs to be blended with fingers for perfect streak-free look.
