There are different types of face packs – detoxifying, purifying, brightening, nourishing and moisturizing face packs. Each has its own benefits and uses. In this post, I will mention two other types – warm face packs and cold face packs, how they are beneficial for the skin and how to prepare for each skin type.

HOT AND COLD FACE MASK RECIPE FOR EVERY SKIN TYPEWarm Face Mask: Applying warm face packs helps to open the pores and allow the ingredients to penetrate deeper, giving more effective results. If you are looking for a deep purification of impurites or need an intense deep nourishing treatment, it is advisable to use warm face packs. Be careful to test the temperature of the face pack before applying and make sure it is not too hot, only warm. While washing these face packs, first use lukewarm water and then lastly splash some cold water to close the pores again.

For dry skin: Boil some water on stove. Pour the boiling water into a small bowl. In a smaller bowl, take 3 teaspoons of honey and place inside the water bowl. It is advisable not to heat honey directly. This warm honey pack deep cleanses your face and also provides intense moisturization for dry skin. Also, it is a very relaxing treatment to be done in the night.

For normal skin: Warm some milk and apply on cleansed face. After 2 minutes, apply some more warm milk as another layer on top and repeat once more. Leave on for 20 minutes and wash with lukewarm water. This gives clean, translucent, bright skin.

For oily skin: Cook oatmeal with milk or water as per your preference. Wait for it to slightly cool at a bearable temperature. Apply a thick layer on face. Leave for 15 minutes and wash off by scrubbing gently. This pack is good for oily, acne prone skin as it absorbs excess oil and gives a matte effect.

Cold Face Mask: Cold packs too have their own benefits. It soothes sunburns. Also if you had any allergy to creams and experience a burning sensation or redness on face, you can try this for instant relief. Cold face packs also minimizes pores and gives an instant glow and freshness to your face. If you are heading out to a party somewhere, you can try this for a more radiant look.
