Did you get ready for office and realised your shirt or top is wrinkled and needs ironing? It is not always possible to iron clothes due to a variety of reasons like the iron is not working, you don’t have one or maybe you are running out of time. In the era of ‘Quick Fixes’ and ‘Hacks’ how could we forget about ironing? Wrinkled clothes may be a big problem if you want an important business meeting to attend. Here are some ways to de-wrinkle your clothing without an iron:
TUMBLE DRYING
Tumble drying is a great way to remove wrinkles when you cannot use iron. You need an ice cube or a wet woollen cloth/sock. Simply put your clothes in the machine, set it to medium and put 1-2 ice cubes or a wet soak/woollen cloth in it. The ice cubes or wet sock produces steam that helps in removing wrinkles from your clothes.
HAIR DRIER
If you have a hair drier, look no further for solutions to de-wrinkle your clothes. Using a hair drier is the quickest, easiest and on-the-go solution for fixing your wrinkles clothes. Lay your wrinkled clothes on a flat surface and run your hair dryer one to two inches over the front and back. The wrinkles will vanish in no time!
VINEGAR
You may use this trick when you are not in a hurry, maybe when you don’t have an iron or when it is not working. White vinegar is a cheap and readily available alternative to the commercial wrinkle sprays. Make a solution of 1 part vinegar and 3 parts water. Pour it in a spray bottle and keep it in cool dry place to use as and when required. Mist your wrinkles garment with this spray and let it air dry. Tada!
HAIR STRAIGHTENER
If you have a hair straightener, you can use it to de-wrinkle your clothes. Do not attempt using it on sensitive clothes and clothes that have embroidery, rubber print or hand work on it. It’s particularly useful for hard to iron areas like your shirt collar. Simply pinch the collar gently several times to remove the wrinkles from it.
HOT SHOWER STEAM
You may place your wrinkled cloth in the bathroom while you shower using hot water. When you shower with hot water, you fill the bathroom with warm steam and the humidity increases. This may help in removing wrinkles from your clothes. Simply hang your clothes on a hanger and place it in the bathroom somewhere close to your shower head, but not too close to avoid wetting it. Remember, you only want steam to touch your cloth and not water.
DAMP TOWEL
You only need a damp towel for this trick. Simply dampen a thick towel (not soak) with water. Lay your wrinkled cloth on a flat surface and put a damp towel/cloth on it. Press down for sometime to smooth out the creased area and let it air dry. This method is suitable for less wrinkled clothes.
