BANISH BLEMISHES WITH COMMON HOUSEHOLD ITEMS

Blemishes are an unfortunate part of adolescence and an unwelcome occurrence for adults. Blemishes can occur as skin discoloration or dark spots, generally caused by acne breakouts. They can also be attributed to factors like hormonal imbalance, genetics, improper skin care, poor diet, sun exposure and aging. Over-the-counter and prescription treatments can be harsh and drying to already irritated or inflamed skin. Instead, you can turn to some common household items to get rid of blemishes and pamper your skin at the same time.

BANISH BLEMISHES WITH COMMON HOUSEHOLD ITEMSTOMATO JUICE

Being rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, tomato juice is excellent for creating glowing and blemish-free skin. Plus, it helps shrink large pores and cure acne due to its astringent properties.

How to use: Massage your skin with tomato pulp. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes, and then rinse it off with cool water. Follow this simple routine daily for several weeks or until you get the desired results.

POTATO

Potato juice contains starch that helps reduce blemish pigmentation. It also diminishes dark circles under eyes.

How to use: Peel and grate one small potato. Extract the juice using a fine sieve or cheesecloth. Soak a cotton ball in the juice and apply it on your skin. Leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing it off. Do this daily for one month or until you are satisfied with the results.

LAVENDER+TEA TREE ESSENTIAL OIL

Take two drops of tea tree + lavender (50:50 ratio) and add to 4 to 5 ml of distilled water for a 2 percent dilution. Thoroughly mix to combine, then dab onto your blemishes with a clean cotton ball. This blemish remedy does not need to be rinsed off and can be applied as needed.

MINT LEAVES

Mint leaves work wonders on acne and blemishes by drying them up and cleaning the pores. When these leaves are applied externally, they can make sure blemishes and scars associated with them go away gradually. Here is how you can use this foliage:

How to use: Take some clean mint leaves. Grind them well using little water to make a smooth paste. Apply this paste on the blemishes. Leave the paste on for 20 min. After 20 mins wash with cold water. You can repeat this once a week.

CUCUMBER

Cucumber is soothing for your skin and being an astringent also opens your pores and helps clear scars and blemishes. It improves skin texture and reduces inflammation due to its vitamin C and antioxidant content.

Remedy 1: Blend one-half cup of peeled and chopped cucumber in a blender or food processor along with three tablespoons of lemon juice. Apply this paste on your skin and leave it on for 20 minutes or more before rinsing it off with cool water. Repeat daily until your blemishes fade away.

Remedy 2: Alternatively, you can simply apply fresh juice extracted from a cucumber on your skin using a cotton ball. Leave it on for 20 to 30 minutes, and then wash it off with cool water. Do this daily for at least one month.

ADDITIONAL TIPS:

  • Sun rays irritate acne and that can cause blemishes. To mitigate damage from the sun, apply a good sunscreen with at least SPF 15 on your exposed skin areas whenever you go out in the sun.
  • The best way to get rid of blemishes is to prevent the skin blemishes from occurring in the first place.  Start treating acne, blackheads and whiteheads as soon as you see them appearing. Do not prick acne / pimples or try to extract black heads or white heads forcefully.
  • Wash your face daily with a mild cleanser which is good for solving your skin problems like too much of oil, dryness, blackheads and white heads.
  • Aloe Vera gel is a time tested remedy for getting rid of skin blemishes on face and other areas. You can add 3-4 vitamin E capsules into Aloe Vera Gel to make this remedy more effective to remove skin blemishes, including facial blemishes.
