I always wanted a M.A.C lipstick but did not buy since the store is like 45 minutes away from my place. I finally made up my mind, visited the store and got hold of one M.A.C retro matte lipstick in the shade- tropic tonic along with one foundation. Without much ado, let us get to the review:

"MACPRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

A matte lipstick that would not dry out your lips or make fine lines prominent. Available in a range of bold as well as pastel shades to suit all occasions. Waterproof and smudge proof.

"MACMY TAKE ON M.A.C RETRO MATTE LIPSTICK- TROPIC TONIC

Packaging: The lipstick comes in a classy black metal packaging similar to other lipsticks of this brand. The metal body along with metal cap is quite sturdy. The brand name is embossed on the cap while it is printed on the body; I find this really classy! The cap closes with a satisfying click and won’t come off in your handbag.

Texture: The lipstick is quite creamy while you apply but sets to a matte finish which is not drying at all. The lipstick applies smoothly and I did not experience any tugging or pulling.

"MACShade: Tropic tonic is a pure coral shade with light pink undertones. Imagine combining milk with orange juice; the colour which you would get is this shade :p DITTO! I said milk because the shade has some white undertones too along with pink which makes it look a bit chalky, and I am loving it! The colour looks quite orange on the lipstick but turns out to be a little lighter on the lips due to its chalky-pink undertone.

How I use and staying power: I exfoliate my lips and apply a lip balm first. I wipe off the lip balm after 5 minutes and begin lining the edges with the lipstick carefully; then fill in. This lipstick is best applied directly because you may find it tough to apply it with a lip liner as it dries quickly. The colour is quite pigmented and I love it with single swipe, you can build it up for a darker shade.

"MACThe lipstick stays all day long, quite literally. If you eat moderately, the lipstick won’t move a bit but if you eat anything heavy or oily, it fades a bit but the tint remains.

I have a lot of coral shades but this coral is a bit different as it looks bit chalky with orangey pink colour which I am loving to the core. If you love coral shades, you should definitely pick this one.
