Dandruff, also known as seborrheic dermatitis is a common scalp disorder. It can occur due to dry skin, irritated oily skin, growth of bacteria and fungus on the scalp, inflammatory skin conditions and other such factors. It causes itchiness along with excessive formation of dry skin flakes on the scalp. Does your scalp itch very often and have flakes all over? Are you looking for a fast, easy yet safe way of getting rid of dandruff? Here are the top ways to treat dandruff overnight!

VINEGAR TREATMENT

Vinegar can help you get rid of dandruff if used diligently. Get your bottle of vinegar off the kitchen shelf and prepare a mixture of water and vinegar. Use equal amounts of both water and vinegar to ready this remedy. Now apply the mixture onto your scalp and leave overnight. Wash your hair thoroughly the following morning with a mild shampoo.

BANANA+YOGHURT

For dry and frizzy hair, yogurt is an amazing ingredient that not only adds softness and nourishment but also prevents dandruff completely. Mash a ripe banana and mix it with yogurt to get your instant overnight hair mask ready. Apply it evenly on the scalp and hair with little massaging, roll it up and wear a shower cap. Leave it overnight and wash the other day.

COCONUT OIL TREATMENT

Coconut oil is a “tried and true” dandruff treatment, and it smells nice too. Before bedtime, massage 3-5 tablespoons of coconut oil into your scalp and let sit for about an hour. Shampoo normally. You can also look for a shampoo that already contains coconut oil.

OLIVE OIL

An overnight olive oil soak is a folk remedy for dandruff. Massage about 10 drops into your scalp and cover with a shower cap overnight. Follow your regular shampoo routine in the morning. For a quicker cure, look for a shampoo that contains olive oil. Alternatively you could also add few drops olive oil to the shampoo after olive overnight remedy for added benefits.

CURD

Take a small amount (enough to make a mask for your hair) of white sour curd or yogurt and leave it in the open for a day or two for fermentation. Whisk the curd and apply it to your scalp and hair like a mask and leave it on for the entire night. Rinse it thoroughly with a mild shampoo. The acidic quality of the curd not only helps combat dandruff, but conditions it to give it a shiny, soft texture.

RAW HONEY

Wet hair, apply diluted raw honey (90% honey and 10% water). Massage into scalp for 2-3 minutes, then let it sit overnight. Rinse with warm water. If desired, follow with 1/4 cup vinegar and 3/4 cup water to seal the hair cuticle and make hair shiny. Follow this 3-4 times a week consistently for 3-4 months to avoid relapsing.

NEEM

One way to address your dandruff woes is by using a home-made pack containing neem. Mix together ¼ cup neem juice, ¼ cup coconut milk, 1 teaspoon coconut oil and ½ cup beet juice. Mix up all the ingredients and massage the pack into the scalp. Leave it overnight and wash off the next morning using mild shampoo or baby shampoo.

LEMON

To treat the stubborn dandruff one can easily take the help of lemon fruit. It vanishes the dandruff and its related problems like acne and itchy scalp. But make sure you are not using concentrated lemon juice directly on your scalp; the citric acid present in the lemon may hurt your scalp. Squeeze a half lemon and dilute in the water, massage this solution on the scalp and let it work overnight. After that wash off with normal water. This simple remedy helps to wash the stickiness that is responsible for dandruff, and subsequently it holds off the formation of dandruff further.

Dandruff, also known as seborrheic dermatitis is a common scalp disorder.
