Smoothies are the best way to get instant nutrition. There are tons of smoothie recipes on the internet wherein various kinds of fruits and seeds are used. Veggies are rarely used in such recipes (kale being an exception!) but adding them in smoothies can take the nutrition to an another level. Tomato is one such vegetable that can give you the benefits of a vegetable and taste like fruit!
Tomatoes are a great ingredient for a healthy smoothie recipe because of their antioxidant properties. Men in particular should add tomatoes to their diet to help prevent prostate cancer. Here is a recipe for tomato smoothie but before that let us know its benefits:
Regular consumption of tomatoes will help make your skin look great. Tomatoes have lycopene, an antioxidant that helps protect skin against sun damage. It also makes skin less sensitive to ultraviolet light damage, one of the main causes of fine lines and wrinkles on the face.
Tomatoes contain vitamin C and A, both of which are powerful antioxidants that help to neutralize the damaging effects that free radicals have on the body. Vitamin C helps to ward off colds and keep the immune system strong while vitamin A helps maintain healthy eyes.
LOWER BLOOD SUGAR LEVEL
Tomatoes are a great food for diabetics to lower their blood sugar levels. They contain very little carbohydrates, which helps control the urine glucose level. They are also a very good source of chromium that helps regulate blood sugar, as well as fibre, which has been shown to keep blood sugar levels from getting too high.
Vitamin B3 helps improve blood circulation through the arteries and vessels. Now the “B” vitamins are known as the “energy” vitamins, and this one is no exception. Vitamin B3 helps the body process proteins, fats, carbohydrates etc. for the production of energy.
Daily tomato juice consumption keeps the liver healthy, which aids digestion, stimulates regular bowel movement and prevents constipation.
Tomato juice works wonders in flushing out these harmful toxin depositions from the body.
Drinking tomato juice also improves hair health. The vitamin K content in tomatoes not only boosts eye sight, it also promotes healthy hair growth.
