Peanut butter is for some, food of the gods. It can be eaten with chocolate, it can be eaten with jam, it can be smeared on chicken, and it can even be used in drinks! The uses of peanut butter endless! Did you know peanut butter is good for more than just sandwiches and other kitchen uses? Well, peanut butter has a lot of surprising uses in home and in day to day life! Here is a list of some surprising uses for peanut butter:
MOUSE TRAP
Mice love cheese right? Wrong! That’s what cartoons have made you believe, but, in reality, mice aren’t big fans of cheese. They however, love peanut butter. Put a big spoonful at the end of a humane mousetrap, and you’ll get them out of your house in no time!
MEDIA FOR ANIMAL MEDICINE
Cats and dogs love peanut butter! So next time you have to give them some medication, mix it up with a spoonful and feed it to them. No more struggling with the animal as you hold its mouth open and try to force feed it a bitter pill.
REMOVE CHEWING GUM OUT OF HAIR
Chewing gum can create a wadded mess in the hair. Apply some peanut butter and rub the gum until it comes out. Your hair may smell like peanut butter until you shampoo it, but it’s better than cutting the gum out.
SHAVING CREAM
Whether you are in a survivalist situation or you simply ran out of shaving cream, peanut butter can be an easy substitute. Smear on a thin layer of smooth peanut butter and shave as you normally would. The oils in the peanut butter keep the razor from nicking your face or legs, and also acts as a moisturizer! This is not a permanent replacement, but a good solution when you’re all out of shaving cream.
ELIMINATE FISH AND PUNGENT ODOUR
Can’t get rid of that funky fish smell? After you’ve cooked fish, put a tablespoon of smooth peanut butter in the pan and swirl it around. It will soak up the fishiness for you.
REMOVE LABELS
You can dissolve the glue from labelled glass bottles with peanut butter! Just spread on the peanut butter, let it sit for 10-15 minutes, and with just a little scrubbing it should rub right off with a cloth soaked in warm water.
HAIR CARE
You can massage peanut butter right into your scalp for a super simple DIY hair mask that tackles hair that is very rough and dry. Follow up with shampoo in the shower, and your hair will be shiny and beautiful!
LUBRICANT
You can use peanut butter as a lubricant on lawn mower blades, saws, and a variety of other tools. This is handy because you might not have lubricant in the house, but you more than likely will have peanut butter.
