Are you waking up with mosquito bites on your body? Even if you aren’t seeing bites, you may want to take preventative measures to avoid future contact with mosquitoes or other insects. Mosquitoes can carry threatening diseases like malaria, West Nile and encephalitis, but only 29 percent of people say they fear mosquitoes for health reasons! Mosquitoes carry deadly diseases like I mentioned and they mostly bite when you are sleeping. Here are some tips to prevent mosquito bites in your sleep:
Wind from a fan can keep away mosquitoes if it’s set on high speed. Usually the oscillating setting works best, rather than stationary. If you find it too chilly, you may burn a mosquito coil instead.
ELECTRIC MOSQUITO REPELLENT
You can also use the electric mosquito repellents in your room. This is also a great way of getting rid of the mosquitoes. You just have to plug in these electric repellents and they keep on releasing fumes which kill the mosquitoes.
ESSENTIAL OILS
Mix about 30 drops of the essential oils of catnip, citronella, lavender, neem, and black pepper (About 6 drops of each essential oil) into about 30 mL of an unscented and natural oil or moisturizer. Rub a bit onto your skin prior to sleeping. You can also mix 30 drops of these essential oils into organic soy oil for extra protection. Always do a 24-hour skin test to be sure you don’t have sensitivities to any of the oils. DIY Mosquito Repellent Spray >>
AIR CONDITIONER
If you are traveling and are staying in a 5 star hotel then you do not have to worry about mosquitoes in the room. The air conditioned rooms are mosquito free and the main reason behind this is that the windows are usually sealed so there is a little chance for these mosquitoes to get in. you may do this at your home as well!
CHANGE YOUR SHEETS
To prevent insects from getting into bed and biting you at night, wash and change your sheets often. Your dead skin cells will fill your bed, and these cells will attract insects. Washing your sheets every other week isn’t terrible, but a weekly cleaning is ideal.
SLEEP IN DIMMED LIGHT
Simply leave the dim lights on all night. Miraculously, this deters mosquitoes entirely. Wear an eye mask to block out the light. If you don’t have one, place a bandana, towel, or clothes across your eyes. That works just as well.
BUY COMMERCIAL CREAM REPELLENTS
Apply mosquito repellents all over your body before going to sleep. You can enjoy your precious night sleep because the repellent will keep the mosquitoes away from you.
MOSQUITO NET
If you don’t like applying anything on your skin, mosquito nets work the best. Sleep inside a mosquito net which covers your whole bed. There are many houses and guest homes which have these nets fastened permanently on the ceiling. During day time, you can pull the net up and fold it in a bundle and during night time you can pull it down and cover your entire bed.
