Oil pulling is an age-old remedy rooted in Ayurvedic medicine that uses natural substances to clean and detoxify teeth and gums. All of the oils that are often used are completely edible and considered to be healthy when eaten, so they aren’t problematic when swished in the mouth.  If the goal is whitening the teeth, coconut oil to be most effective. Sesame oil is recommended by most sources (though this is partially because it was one of the more widely available oils when the practice first started years ago) and it is also the most well studied and considered safe for those who are not allergic to sesame seeds.

HAIR GROWTH

EYEBROWS AND EYELASHES GROWTH

Castor oil is one of the most effective remedies to boost the growth of your eyebrows and eyelashes. It contains protein, vitamins, fatty acids and antioxidants that nourish the hair follicles and promote hair growth. Plus, it is helpful in resisting any microorganisms that hamper eyebrow and eyelash hair growth. Soak a cotton swab in pure castor oil and apply it on each eyebrow. Massage gently with your fingertips for 2 to 3 minutes. For eyelashes, apply with an old mascara wand. Leave it on for at least 30 minutes or overnight. Wash it off with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser. Repeat once daily for a few weeks until you notice improvement.

DETOX SKIN

A daily full-body warm oil massage helps to rejuvenate the mind and body. CLEAR ACNE-FREE SKIN

Tea tree oil is another common remedy for skin problems like cystic acne. It penetrates easily into the skin to help unblock the sebaceous glands, disinfect pores and dry out the acne. Put 1 or 2 drops of tea tree oil onto a cotton ball and dab it gently on the affected area. Leave it on for a few hours or overnight. Those who have sensitive skin must dilute 1 part tea tree oil with 3 parts coconut oil.

FADE SCAR

Vitamin E oil is an effective antioxidant that can help fade scars. Its moisturizing property hydrates the skin and helps repair damaged tissue and improve the appearance of scars. Open some vitamin E capsules to get the oil. Smear the oil onto the scar and massage gently for 10 minutes. Leave it on for about 15 to 20 minutes, then wash it off with warm water. Do this several times a day.

HAND AND CUTICLE MOISTURIZER

Almond oil is an excellent moisturizer for dry, chapped skin on the hands. It can also moisturize cuticles and keep them from overgrowing. Massage almond oil into hands to moisturize, nourish and soothe dry skin. It also helps to prevent premature aging and repair sun damage on the hands. Treat severely chapped hands by applying almond oil to the palms and the tops of the hands and covering them with gloves.

SOFT FEET

Soak your feet in warm water for 30 minutes and scrub using foot file. Apply few drops of peppermint oil mixed with olive oil and liberally over the feet and wear socks. Leave it overnight and wash off in the morning while bathing. Do this daily for maintaining soft feet.
