Natural DIY shampoos work very well to prevent and treat variety of hair problems! There are people who have given up shampoos and taken up DIY hair washing methods (yes! Including me!) If not totally natural, atleast partial seems a great option. You could definitely add some natural ingredients in your shampoo to give your hair that ‘extra’ nourishment. Here I am with some natural ingredients that you could add in your regular shampoo to strengthen your hair, reduce hair fall and make your hair grow like weed!

LEMON JUICE

Lemon juice possesses natural exfoliating properties and is anti-microbial and anti-fungal- a great way to treat dandruff. The citric acid in the lemon is a natural cleasing agent. It helps to remove buildup from hair care products, which can dull hair and weigh it down. Lemon juice is also great for oily scalp as it will absorb the excess oil and simultaneously will not adversely affect the sebaceous glands unlike chemical remedies. Dandruff and oily scalp is prone to hair thinning and breakage. HONEY

Way to use with shampoo: Add 1 teaspoon fresh aloe vera gel to 2 tablespoon (dollops) of natural shampoo to make a cleansing shampoo.

ESSENTIAL OIL

Rosemary or lavender oil is known for its fragrance and is very useful in treating dandruff issues as well as dry and scaly scalp. Rosemary oil will stimulate the hair follicles, as a result of which hair will grow longer and stronger.

Way to use with shampoo: Add 3-4 drops rosemary essential oil to 2 tablespoon (dollops) of herbal shampoo.

ROSE WATER

Rose water has been said to stabilize your hair’s pH balance because it is nearer to that of hair and can aid in repairing hair’s damaged porosity. It acts as an anti-inflammatory and with its natural antiseptic properties. Some even feel it promotes hair growth although there has been no scientific link proven. It is thought to have stimulating properties.
