How does using fenugreek oil benefit your hair?

Fenugreek oil can stimulate blood flow to the hair follicles in the scalp and push it towards hair growth.

It has also antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties to reduce dandruff, scalp irritation and scalp infections.

Fenugreek seeds are rich in folic acid, which is primarily responsible for healthy cell growth, in addition to vitamins A, vitamin K and vitamin C.

These seeds are rich in minerals like potassium, calcium and iron. These minerals are very beneficial in promoting long, strong and healthy hair growth.

Fenugreek seeds contain a substance called lecithin, which is a natural emollient (hydrator) that can moisturize and strengthen the hair (especially for those people having dry and brittle hair), while also giving your hair a shine and retaining the natural colour of the hair.

Fenugreek seeds act as a natural hair conditioner and can bring back the luster to the hair.

How to make this homemade DIY fenugreek oil?

Ingredients:

½ cup fenugreek seeds

1 cup carrier oil

Carrier oils you could use: Coconut oil, olive oil, grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, apricot oil

Method:

Into a glass jar, add in the fenugreek seeds and then pour in the carrier oil of your choice. Give it a mix and seal the jar tightly with the lid.

Then, in a cool dry place, place this jar for a month (without opening the bottle).

After a month, you will have noticed that the colour of the oil has turned darker. That’s when the oil is ready to use.

You can then strain this ready fenugreek oil using a strainer or muslin cloth. Throw out the fenugreek seeds and only store the freshly made fenugreek oil in a clean container. It is then read to use.

Note: This oil can be stored for up to 30 days in the refrigerator.

Caution: If you find that the colour of the oil is turning cloudy, discard it right away.

Here’s how you can use fenugreek oil on your hair:

Heat up the required amount of oil in a small bowl. Let the oil be warm and not too hot. Heating up the oil stimulates blood circulation and can lead to better distribution of nutrients to the hair follicles and promotes faster hair growth and hair strengthening.

Then, take some of this warm oil into your palms, partition your hair and apply this evenly on your scalp.

From the sides of the head, right from the temple up to the crown of the head, work your way up massaging your head with gentle and circular motions, but with sufficient application of pressure.

Once that portion is over, massage your entire scalp using circular motions and just using your fingertips.

Then, leave it on for around 30 to 40 minutes, before rinsing off with a mild shampoo and condition as usual thereafter.
