We use tons of lip products just to make our lips look good! We use lip balms, lip scrubs etc. We all would always choose natural products over commercial chemical laden products having known the side effects of chemical ingredients in them. DIY products are always given a hi5 as we ourselves make them and we know exactly what all ingredients we have put in them.

Easy homemade DIY coconut and beeswax lip balm

Bee wax refers to the natural wax produced by honeybees in their beehives. The honeybees produce this wax in order to build their honey comb or to repair it. beewax generally comes in colours like yellow, white, off-white, orange, brown or even red; depending upon the species of bees, location of beehive (whether in urban or rural area), and the age of honeycomb. Bee wax is known for its antibacterial and moisturizing effects. Extraction of bee wax from a honeycomb is a very lengthy process, but you can also order it online from well-known shopping sites. I had a honeycomb/beehive in my gallery which I used to extract bee wax, which I used further to make a lip balm. Read on to know how to make a DIY bee wax lip balm:

Things you need:

  • Beewax         – 1 tbs (grated)
  • Argan oil       – 2 tbs
  • Olive oil       – 2 tbs
  • Coconut oil – 2 tbs

Method:

  • Mix all the oils together in a steel vessel
  • Hold the vessel over gas flame in order to warm it. avoid boiling
  • Add grated bee wax in the oils
  • Stir the mixture till all the bee wax gratings melt
  • Turn off the flame and immediately pour the mixture in a small container in which you wish to store your lip balm.
  • Let the container and mixture cool down. The bee wax lip balm will harden after cooling.
  • Store it in cool dry place.
  • Your DIY bee wax lip balm is ready!!

NOTE: Make sure you do not add bee wax more than what is mentioned or else your lip balm will harden more than required and make application impossible.

You can also add beetroot juice to it if you wish to make a tinted lip balm or try the DIY beet lip stain. I always use this lip balm before sleeping as night treatment for my lips. It can be used to cure chapped lips effectively. This lip balm can also be applied on dry skin, to prevent acne, treat skin rashes and also to prevent stretch marks! This is not only a lip balm, but a multipurpose product in true sense!
