We all love masks and scrubs! On face, hair even on body! But hey, have you ever used masks/scrubs on nails? Well, that was the only body part left for scrubbing and applying mask. Masks make us feel pampered, that is the best thing about them! Nails too, just like any body part needs pampering. We take care of every body part, but usually forget our precious nails who literally sometimes crash and break.
The most common problems people have with their nails are weakness and peeling, yellowing and staining, dry and brittle nails. I have a couple of solutions for these problems, which only needs access to your kitchen.
Lemon-baking soda Nail Scrub: You must have seen your nails turn yellowish or other sort of yucky color due to over application of dark nail polishes. Lemon-bicarb mask can be used in order to reduce/remove those stains. The lemon juice plays a key role in removing any stains whereas the baking soda provides an exfoliating effect.
Method: Mix 1 tablespoon baking soda and Lemon juice (couple of squirts) together. You may see a fizz, just like your school science projects. Allow the fizz to go away and apply this mixture to your nails and keep for 10 minutes. Wash using warm water with gentle scrubbing. Home remedies for ingrown toe nail >>
Olive oil-honey Nail Moisturizer: You must have witnessed your nails drying out after removing your nail polish. This also leads to brittle nails. not to worry, it just needs a simple fix with this moisturizing nail mask:
Method: Combine 1 teaspoon olive oil and 1 teaspoon honey. Apply this mixture to your nails and cuticles. Wait for at least 10-15 minutes before washing off this mask from your nails.
This is an excellent alternative to cuticle cream and can be used in manicures as well. olive oil and honey provides super moisture to your nails and cuticles and improve their appearance.
Egg-honey Nail strengthening mask: Many of us have a bad habit of fidgeting with our nails, and we end up scraping off the nail polish. This peels off the uppermost layer of nails in a non-balanced manner. This leads peeling off of the nails and makes them vulnerable and sensitive to breakage. Things you need:
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 drop essential oil (lavender, vanilla etc.) to neutralize the egg smell if that bothers you)
Method: Mix all the ingredients properly and apply liberally over nails and cuticles. Let it sit for 10 minutes and wash it off using warm water. The egg yolk supplements your nails with essential protein which strengthens them whereas honey softens the cuticles and provides the all needed nourishment to your nails.
Do you take enough care of your nails as much as your skin and hair? If not, it’s never too late to start! Just nail it.
