Laptop or desktop cleaning is always considered as a not so interesting job but cleaning the desktop/laptop is too important to ignore. The dust gets settled not only on the desktop but even between the keyboard buttons which is hard to be cleaned. Cleaning the laptop or desktop is very significant if you want to maintain the laptop in good condition for longer time. Generally people just clean the laptop like any other gadget but doing it the right way would not hurt much, isn’t it? Here is how you can do it the right way.
To start with turn off the computer and unplug it. You will need a few things handy so here is the list.
Monitor: First cleaning the monitor of your laptop. While cleaning the same you need to remember not to use alcohol or any other kind of chemical as it will damage the LCD screen. Use distilled water and damp microfiber cloth in it. Wipe the monitor with this cloth. Now moving on to desktop monitor, here it is okay to use rubbing alcohol as this monitor does not have the delicate screen. Fill the spray bottle with rubbing alcohol and Spray the rubbing alcohol on to the monitor or damp the microfiber cloth in rubbing alcohol and clean the dirty desktop monitor with it. If the monitor is not dirty then you may wipe it with just cloth as well. This can be done when you clean it on regular basis.
Keyboard: Keyboard is essentially the part that gets the dirtiest and the hardest to clean as well. Make sure to never spray anything on the keyboard as the liquid can easily settle inside the keyboard. You can use microfiber cloth dampened with rubbing alcohol to clean the keyboard in general. To clean the dirt settled deeper in between the buttons use Q tips dipped in rubbing alcohol and clean those areas with it. Use a baby wipe to remove the dirt, dried spills, and unspecified gunk that builds up on the keys themselves.
Computer: If your computer is very dusty from outside, then you can use vacuum cleaner to clean the same. You need to hold the vacuum cleaner a bit away from the outer case and vacuum out the dust easily. This way the dust settled inside also will come out easily. Then use wet cloth to wipe off the stubborn dirt.
Cables: If you have a desktop then you probably have long cables too along with it. To clean these cables use soft cloth and dip it in cleaning solution or rubbing alcohol and clean the cables with it.
Mouse: If you have a mouse with a removable tracking ball, use a 50/50 vinegar-water solution to clean it. First, remove the ball from underneath the mouse by twisting off the cover over it. Use a cloth, dampened with the solution to wipe the ball clean and to remove fingerprints and dirt from the mouse itself. Then use a moistened cotton swab to clean out the gunk from inside the ball chamber.
General tips:-
- Never eat or drink anywhere near the laptop or desktop
- Always test the solution you intend to use for cleaning on a small area first.
