Exercise is an integral part of Ayurvedic weight loss treatment. Along with walking and/or cycling, the concerned person is expected to keep himself or herself throughout the day. Panchakarma is a purification process that helps in the elimination of these toxins and other impurities from our body, thereby restoring the functioning of digestive system. It is done by purgation, emesis, enema, and herbal administration through note under medical supervision. Once the digestive fire is restored, the weight loss comes on naturally.

  1. Massages: Udvartana is the most common used Ayurvedic massage for weight loss. Once the detoxification process is completed, the person undergoes massage using dry, rough, and hot powders or oils. In oil-based massages, herbs infused sesame seed oils are used to instill roughness, lightness, and dryness and thereby eliminate blocks and stiffness. It also initiates a liquefaction process of the fats accumulated.

Once the massage is completed, the person is allowed to sit a herbal chamber for steaming, with only head kept outside. Water retention, if any, is lost along with the elimination of toxins.
