Let’s be honest here, how often do you take care of your feet? Our feet goes through a lot of friction and bruising (not to forget shoe bites!) which can cause cracked heels, peeling toenails, painful ingrown nail, dry, flaky skin, and cuticles, etc. Out feet needs pampering once in a while just like you pamper your hands to keep them looking good, clean and free of any infections.
Oils work the best for your feet and here are some foot oil recipes that you should try out to prevent/treat infections and also to maintain the condition of your feet.
MOISTURIZING FOOT OIL
This foot oil can be used after bath as a moisturizer. It seals in moisture and keeps your feet smelling fresh.
Things you need: You need 1-ounce sweet almond oil, 7-8 drops patchouli essential oil, 5-6 drops vetiver essential oil and 4-5 drops sweet marjoram essential oil.
Method: Take almond oil in a bowl and add the essential oils to it. Mix it well and store in a bottle. Use it after bath on your feet and massage until it gets absorbed.
CLEANSING FOOT SOAK OIL
This foot soak oil blend will cleanse, moisturize and aid prevention of foot ulcers, infections (especially psoriasis and eczema) and inflammation.
Things you need: You need two drops lavender oil, two drops tea tree essential oil, two drops chamomile essential oil and two tablespoons raw and virgin coconut oil.
Method: Melt coconut oil in a bowl and add the essential oils to it. Mix it properly and store it in a bottle. Add few drops of this oil along with one tablespoon of Epsom salts in a tub of warm water and soak your feet in it.
ANTI-INFLAMMATORY FOOT OIL
This oil can soothe inflamed skin on the feet, heal cracked heels and repair peeling skin.
Things you need: You need 1 cup olive oil, five drops chamomile essential oil and 4-5 drops lavender essential oil.
Method: Add all the essential oils in olive oil and store it in a bottle. Shake the bottle well to mix the ingredients. Apply a little quantity of this oil on your feet and massage for few minutes before bedtime. Wear clean socks and repeat this until the condition of your foot improves.
FOOT MASSAGE OIL
This oil is best to be used as a massage oil since it does not completely get absorbed and moisturizes the feet very well. It improves circulation in the feet and keeps it healthy and free of any problems. Massaging at night induces sleep.
Things you need: To make this foot massage oil, you need 1 cup coconut oil, one teaspoon chamomile essential oil, 20 drops rosemary essential oil and one teaspoon lavender essential oil.
Method: Add all the essential oils to the carrier oil like coconut oil and mix it well. Pour the oil into a bottle and use its and when required. Use it to massage your feet. You can also use it at night to induce sleep because of lavender oil in it; massage for a while, wear socks and sleep.
ATHLETE’S FOOT OIL
Garlic is a potent anti-bacterial and anti-fungal that is extensively used for the treatment of numerous skin ailments including athlete’s foot. This garlic infused oil can effectively help you with this problem:
Things you need: To make this oil, you need a handful of garlic and 1 cup coconut oil.
Method: Chop garlic and add it in coconut oil. Using a mortar and pestle, crush the garlic in oil and infuse it for a week. Use this oil on your feet and apply a bandage on it. Do this until the skin heals itself from infection.
