Home cleaning is something that needs to be almost daily or every alternate day. How often do you clean the carpets? How often do you clean the window glass? The important question, how do you clean them? If you are using commercially available toxic cleansers, you are exposed to their harmful effects frequently! Instead, why not add some healthy oils to your home cleaning routine? Below is a list of top oils that have cleaning powers along with ways to use them:

  1. LEMONGRASS ESSENTIAL OIL

Mix 20 drops of lemongrass oil to 100 ml water. Use this solution for wiping grime off the windows. Using this lemongrass solution would also keep flies away. You can also use the solution to clean glass tables, and any other glass surfaces.

  1. COCONUT OIL

If you have wooden furniture or wooden show pieces at your home, coconut oil mixed with a bit of lemon juice can be used to buff the surface. This will not only clean it, but also polish it.

  1. CASTOR OIL

Castor oil can be used just like coconut oil! Mix it with lemon juice or lemon essential oil and use it to buff the wooden surfaces. Use a touch of castor oil to lubricate moving metal parts like door hinges and get them working smoothly again. Lemon essential oil can be used to clean anything and everything in the house. Mix it with castile soap and water and you are good to clean any damn surface. In fact, it can also be used to dissolve stubborn rust on taps and metal surfaces in the house.

  1. LAVENDER ESSENTIAL OIL

In a bottle, add in 1 tablespoon castile soap, 1 cup white vinegar and 20 drops of lavender essential oil. Mix well and pour on a cloth. Use the cloth to clean any surface in the house including kitchen appliances.

  1. BERGAMOT ESSENTIAL OIL

To refresh the carpets and furniture upholstery, dip a sponge in a quart of warm water to which 5-6 drops of bergamot oil have been added and use the sponge to just wipe over the couches. Mix half cup of vinegar, half cup of baking soda and 5 drops of bergamot essential oil. Mix it well and pour this mixture in the sink. Then using a sponge scrub and in the end rinse with warm water. It will make your sink clean and will also deodorize it. Use a paper towel soaked with several drops of tea tree essential oil to sanitize and disinfect bathroom fixtures and toilet seats.
