Dandruff is nothing but scaling off of the dead skin cells from scalp. Mild flaking is normal but severe flaking may need some treatment! Dandruff might be the result of a number of factors such as frequent heat or cold exposure, excessive exposure to hair styling products, chronic constipation, stress, fatigue, pollution and much more.
There are lots of shampoos that boast of clearing white flakes, but most really fail to do so. Here are some of the Ayurvedic treatment solutions to dandruff:
Equal quantity of Hibiscus flower, fresh amla (gooseberry) and leaves of holy basil (tulasi) are taken and mixed with 4 times of gingelly oil (Sesame oil) and 8 times of coconut water. This is cooked till the complete evaporation of water content. This is filtered and stored. This oil should be applied on scalp as dandruff treatment and washed off the next day with mild shampoo.dandruff or lice
10 gram of borax (dehydrated) is taken and mixed well with 60 ml of curd. This is applied to the scalp. (Instead of curd, lemon juice can also be used.) Regular application of this for 70-10 days will give visible results.
Make a paste of fenugreek powder and amla powder with water or curds. Apply this paste to scalp, leave it for 10 minutes, wash hair.
Make a paste of aamla powder, hibiscus powder, neem powder, bhringraj powder, brahmi powder and tea tree oil with bottle gourd juice. Apply it on the scalp and keep for 3 hours and wash off with gentle scrubbing. Do not use any shampoo after this. I do this once in two weeks and is great for no-pooers even if you don’t have dandruff as it makes hair healthy!
Soak 2 tablespoons of fenugreek in water. Next day, grind it. Apply this slimy paste to scalp. Leave it for 15-30 minutes and then wash.
These Ayurvedic treatments will help you keep dandruff at bay for long.
